| Raju was a Naval Officer with the Republic of Singapore Navy from 1970 to 1996 before he retired as a Major. He held various appointments in the Navy, the last being President, SAF Court Martial Centre. |
| He graduated from the University of London in 1981 and went on to be called as an Utter Barrister (Gray's Inn) at the Bar for England and Wales in 1983. He was called to the Singapore Bar on 11 September 1996. |
| Raju was in practice for 3 years before joining Ministry of Home Affairs. He left the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2006 and now the General Manager of Straits Law Practice LLC. |
