| Most Significant Legal Cases to Date |
| Cynthia's most memorable case was a personal injury matter where a 7 year-old boy sustained serious head injuries in a road traffic accident. From a bright and healthy boy, he was reduced to a paraplegic with cerebral palsy. Cynthia acted for the insurer of the driver who knocked the boy down. The matter was assessed in the High Court for 4 days due to the multiple heads of claim involved. |
| On the first day of assessment, the matter took a surprising turn. The boy's doctor saw him in court and insisted on a re-examination as his condition had improved. The matter was stood down for the doctor to examine the boy and to give an updated medical report. |
| After that, because the boy's life expectancy was projected to be longer, his claim amount actually increased. Though that meant the insurer had to pay more in damages, Cynthia was glad to have played a part in ensuring the boy received a fair compensation at the end of the day. Cynthia believes that a just outcome serves the long term interest of all parties. |
