Most Significant Legal Cases to Date
One of Bala's memorable cases was a case where his client was accused of robbery. His client had always maintained his innocence and insisted that he was framed. However, he was up against the alleged victim and his witnesses. The cross examination of the alleged victim and his witnessed showed inconsistencies in the evidences, lies and fabrication. Having heard the arguments and the evidence the Court acquitted Bala's client. Upon hearing the verdict, his client was so overwhelmed with emotion that he hugged Bala and cried in Court. The verdict buttressed Bala's belief in the criminal justice system.
The other memorable case was one where Bala's client, a Certis Cisco Auxiliary Police Officer was accused of receiving bribes from foreign construction workers who were moonlighting as car washers and further for obtaining a car washers' licence without the permission of his superior, the Commissioner of Police. In Court, the allegations of bribery were refuted. It was however admitted that his client did obtain the car washers licence without the permission of his superior and that his client contravened the work permit conditions of the workers. For these offences, his client was fined but was able to retain his job of more than 20 years with the auxiliary police force.
