Suresh Nair
Suresh graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LLB (Hons) and was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 1994. He has also been admitted to the rolls of solicitors of the Supreme Court of England and Wales.
Suresh left Singapore in 2002 to spend a year as a Legal Officer at the United Nations Compensation Commission in Geneva, where he reviewed war reparations claims arising out of the first Gulf war. He returned to Singapore to continue his practice after his attachment with the United Nations in 2003.
Suresh main areas of practice are banking and fund-related litigation, corporate and shareholders’ disputes, insolvency, employment, construction and media-related disputes.
In his spare time, Suresh serves as a racing steward with the Singapore Turf Club. He also lectures at the Wealth Management Institute.

Most Significant Legal Cases to Date
Suresh has appeared as counsel in the Court of Appeal case of Orient Centre Investments Ltd & Anor v Societe Generale [2007] 3 SLR 556, in which he successfully relied on standard banking terms and conditions to have certain claims pertaining to complex structured products struck out against the bank as being frivolous and vexatious. The decision was mentioned in the UK High Court decision of JP Morgan Chase Bank v Springwell Navigation Corp [2008] All ER 115 (Jun).
Suresh has also acted in several matters involving disputes raising issues of breaches of fiduciary duties and corporate fraud in relation to the management of offshore funds. He has acted for liquidators, judicial managers and creditors in various corporate insolvencies.
His broad practice recently saw him successfully act for an animal welfare organisation against contractors in a case involving the use of toxic landfill by the contractors, as well as for a major developer in the successful defence of an adverse possession claim in the Court of Appeal.
Suresh has also been involved in substantial international arbitrations under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce and the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.
